Thank you for your interest in helping Friends of Project Second Chance. We are happy to receive donations of any amount at any time! We are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. tax law. Your donation will support our mission to provide adult literacy services to residents of Contra Costa County.

Please be sure to include “Project Second Chance, Inc.” (doing business as Friends of PSC) when you participate in your employer’s charitable giving campaign and/or other matching programs.
How we use your donation
While the Contra Costa Library provides offices, staffing, and other support for PSC, financial support from Friends of Project Second Chance is critical to meeting PSC’s needs. This year, contributions from Friends of PSC made up approximately half PSC’s budget for costs other than building expenses and salaries, including:
- 57% of adult literacy materials
- 88% of program advertising and marketing costs
- 90% of staff training expenses
- 90% of event costs
