Wanda and the Burro by Ike E.

Wanda and the Burro

by Ike E.

We were in Oatman, Arizona
It is a Western town on Route 66
With a sheriff and outlaws
Wild burros wandering through the town
Wanda, my wife, was sitting on a corner
Eating an ice cream cone, engrossed in watching
The sheriff and outlaws up the street
putting on a show
I was around the corner looking at some belt buckles
I came around the corner
I saw Wanda sitting, holding her ice cream cone to the side
And a burro eating her ice cream cone
When I said, “Wanda!” they both jumped
Wanda dropped the ice cream cone
The burro continued to eat the
ice cream cone
We both laughed
